Dojo Etiquette

Behave respectfully in the dojo Never walk on the mat with street shoes or sneakers
Keep uniform clean and in good repair Hands &  feet should be clean finger/toe nails short & smooth
If you have questions ask the next highest in rank, first Bow first before entering or leaving the mat
Pause all activity and bow when a black belt enters the mat Non-ranking students should line up right to left in rank order
The dojo is a place for serious training, focus on the task at hand and be respectful to all participants. Foolery is disrespectful and dangerous When an instructor stops to teach you, stand or kneel from a safe distance, observe, then bow to the instructor
Bow to training partners before and after training exercises When uke says "matte" (wait!), cease technique immediately
Let your partners know your injuries and respect theirs Practice techniques appropriate for your rank
